Psychology Practicum
|
The College of the Holy Cross Counseling Services offers a nine-month Predoctoral Practicum Training Program for clinical or counseling psychology doctoral students. The applicants are expected to have completed, at minimum, one practicum placement through a clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program prior to starting at our center. Practicum students are on-site approximately 16 - 20 hours per week and will have the opportunity to work with a diverse population of young adults who manifest the full spectrum of psychological and psychiatric problems. Tuesday afternoon from 1 PM – 5 PM is a mandatory training day and practicum students must be on-site during this time. Practicum students can expect to have a well-rounded clinical training experience in college mental health supported by weekly individual supervision (2 hours), a weekly Training Seminar on diversity and other clinical issues (1 hour), and a weekly Case Conference (1 hour). During the first two weeks of the practicum, students will receive more focused training in the basic operations of the Counseling Center. The externship begins in mid-August and ends in late May. The usual recruitment cycle begins in late-fall and application materials are welcome in early December. Although it varies by year and weather conditions, we attempt to hold interviews in January and early February. Notifications are on a rolling basis and can be made as early as January and as late as March. Students interested in applying for the practicum program can send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference to the attention of Dr. Adriana DiPasquale at the mailing address below or by email to adipasqu@holycross.edu. If you do not have letters of reference readily available, please submit the names and contact information for three references. Students may also contact Dr. DiPasquale by telephone with any questions about the practicum program at (508) 793-3363. Adriana DiPasquale, Psy.D. |
