Registration/Parking DecalsAll motor vehicles operated on campus by faculty, staff, administrators and students (resident and off-campus) must display a current valid parking decal or temporary pass. First- and second-year students are not allowed to have vehicles on campus.
Fees
The parking decal must be permanently placed on the on the lower left (driver's) side of the front windshield. Public Safety must be notified when a replacement vehicle is brought to campus. A temporary pass will be provided, at no cost, for the duration that the vehicle is on campus.
Temporary Parking PassesTemporary parking passes may be issued in extreme emergency situations, but only for a short period of time. Passes are issued at the Public Safety Office, O'Kane #5. A valid registration certificate and current ID card must be furnished when applying for the pass. This is at the discretion of Public Safety.
Parking Areas
Restricted ParkingLinden Lane, Haberlin Road and O'Kane Square are restricted areas. Students, faculty and staff are not allowed to park in these areas. They are reserved for visitors to the Admissions Office and Administrative Offices. There is NO student parking in the Loyola lot at any time. It is strictly reserved for faculty/staff parking.
Towing InformationChapter 266, section 120D of the General Laws of Massachusetts gives the College authority to have vehicles towed off campus. The owner of the vehicle or the person whose name the vehicle is registered under at the College is responsible for the towing and storage charges, which are to be paid directly to the towing company. Vehicles are subject to being towed for:
Any situation that is deemed necessary to maintain orderly parking and traffic flow. Tow List - Any vehicle with a valid parking decal that receives six (6) or more violations in an academic year will be placed on the TOW LIST. The vehicle will be removed from campus at the owner's expense and parking privileges will be revoked for the remainder of the academic year. Any vehicle parked in the student lots or the student levels of the garage without a valid parking decal will be towed at the owner's expense.
Penalties and FinesParking fines are the responsibility of the person who purchased the parking decal and registered the vehicle. All roadways are considered 'fire lanes' and must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
Snow RemovalResident Student Lots and Hogan Lots 1,2,3Three inches or more of snow will necessitate snow removal operations. As soon as the main roads on the campus and the Hogan parking lots are cleared, students will be notified by signs posted in resident halls, voice mail and e-mail to move their vehicles into the Hogan lots so that the resident lots can be cleared. Sufficient time will be given within which student vehicles must be moved. Any student having a question as to when they should move their vehicle may call Public Safety at ext. 2224 at any time. After the student lots are cleared, students must move their vehicles back into the student lots. Failure to move back when instructed will result in a fine or removal of the vehicle at the owner's expense. All Other Parking AreasPersons parking in all other areas are responsible for moving their vehicles for snow removal. Every effort will be made to clear these areas as soon as possible. Vehicles left in these lots during snow removal are subject to be towed at the owner's expense if said vehicle is deemed to be hindering snow removal.
On-Street ParkingThe City of Worcester has designated most streets adjacent to the campus as "Resident Permit Required." Therefore, these streets are restricted to residents only who display a City of Worcester parking permit. In addition, the City of Worcester winter parking ban on all streets is in effect from December 1- April 30 each year. Visit the Worcester DPW site for more information on the parking ban - http://www.ci.worcester.ma.us/dpw.
Citation AppealsAppeal of any citation issued for a violation of any of these regulations must be made to the Public Safety Office within 5 days of the date of the violation. If the appeal is granted, the Bursar's Office will be notified to post a waiver to the appropriate account. Positively no appeals will be honored after the 5-day time limit. Campus speed limit is 15 M.P.H. and is strictly enforced.
