Exciting. Scary. Exhilarating. Stressful. Challenging. Fun. Beginning your college career can be all of these things — after all, it’s one of the biggest transitions you will ever make. At Holy Cross, we have lots of experience helping students with the passage from home life to college life. We’re here to make sure you have the support you need to make the most of this important time.
We offer three first-year student orientation programs designed to help everyone in the incoming class get ready for college life and learning, and to become familiar with all the tools and resources available. Depending on your individual situation, you may participate in one, two, or all three of these programs.
Gateways: A Crash Course in Holy Cross
We encourage all incoming students — and their parents — to join us at Gateways. This is a comprehensive program, with summer sessions held in June on your choice of three different dates, and a fall program offered in late August. The workshops, lectures, and special events are all designed to give you a head start on meeting faculty and administrators, making friends, and learning about life in and out of the classroom. Odyssey: A Deeper Exploration
As part of our commitment to diversity initiatives and our multicultural community, we invite first-year ALANA (African-American, Latin American, Asian-American, and Native American) students, international students, students for whom English is a second language, and Americans living abroad to campus for a week before the fall semester so they can explore Holy Cross more deeply.
